There Was the Sportscar

There was the sportscar and there was the childseat

and they were at odds.  The girl was a surprise.

But the man made it work.  And she loved the speed,

left her smelly, limp bear in the seat

while she toddled to daycare and he zoomed to work,

what little zooming he could zoom, and then she was gone

and there was only the empty childseat and the sportscar

and what he wouldn’t give to have her back.
