The Song about the Body

Take your tongue

and use it

to remind me

I have come far.

Take your slim white

fingers and pull

me through.

This is the love poem

taking root. This is

the song about

the body, the simple

human body,

its dreams, its touch-

iness. I want to

sing it to you while

you remove my skin

so that I am

so naked I appear to

you as a lasting shield,

as a man reborn visible.
